Borussia Mönchengladbach are holding ‘extensive negotiations’ with Leeds United over defender Max Wöber as his loan deal doesn’t include a purchase option.
That’s according to Gladbach Live, who cover the situation today and how the two clubs needs to work to find an agreement for a permanent move.
Wöber joined Gladbach on loan in the summer, taking his opportunity to leave Leeds on a temporary basis following their relegation from the Premier League.
He’s been a regular for the German side this season and they’re keen to sign him on a permanent basis, although it was reported early last month that Gladbach would have to stretch themselves financially to get it done.
That was followed by Wöber admitting he was waiting to see what happened and was stuck between both clubs between the two sides for now.
Gladbach Live now follow that up and explain that pragmatic answer was due to the fact that Leeds and their German counterparts ‘have not agreed a purchase option’ for the player as yet.
That wasn’t done in the summer when they signed the loan deal and they now have to go back to the negotiating table for him to move in the summer. Those ‘extensive negotiations’ are still underway.
It seems there’s no rush given he’s on loan until the summer anyway but it’s something to keep an eye on, nonetheless.
