Lazio have made an enquiry to Arsenal for defender Nuno Tavares as they look to add a full-back to their squad this summer.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who report that Lazio are making enquiries across Europe, and one has been sent to Arsenal asking for information on Tavares.
The Italian side are not making moves as yet and will need to sell players before they can do so anyway but are working behind the scenes and testing the waters for various options.
That’s led them to hold talks with Tavares’ agents about a possible move this summer as he returns to Arsenal from a loan spell at Nottingham Forest.
He’s spent the last two years away from the Emirates on loan at Marseille and then Forest in what have been a difficult few years for him.
There is only a year left on his current contract at Arsenal and he is looking for a move that will help him to relaunch himself and his career.
Lazio would only like to take him on loan at this moment in time, which might make a deal with Arsenal difficult at this moment in time. They would presumably be reluctant to loan out Tavares this season knowing he could leave next summer on a free transfer.
Discussions will have to be held on that front with those in charge at Arsenal, but CM say they will take place in the next few days to try and work something out ahead of a potential move.
