Galatasaray are working on the signing of Arsenal fullback Nuno Tavares, according to reports from Turkey.
Outlet Takvim brings some ‘fresh developments’ on the pursuit of the 23-year-old.
It’s claimed that following Tavares’ loan spell at Olympique Marseille, Galatasaray held a ‘first meeting’ with his agent.
The player, who’s unlikely to stay at Arsenal, is now set to play the U-21 Euro for Portugal. Then he’ll evaluate the offers after the tournament to ‘make a decision’ next month, as the tournament ends on July 8th.
Takvim makes it clear that the Gunners do not have Tavares in their plans for the next season, and that’s a boost for any club who are interested.
It’s said Galatasaray’s first idea is to try to negotiate a loan with Arsenal. In case that possibility is turned down, then they shall engage in talks for a permanent move.
The report even highlights Tavares’ qualities, claiming he has ‘great speed, athleticism and effective shots’.
Reports from France have been claiming Marseille are indeed not interested in keeping the player, so Galatasaray may be showing up as an interesting alternative for the left-back, who has a contract with Arsenal until 2025.
