Leeds United will have to fight with Arsenal and Aston Villa to sign Weston McKennie in the winter market.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who state the three English clubs are ‘still in the running’ to secure the Juventus player’s services.
In the last few hours, Leeds, Arsenal and Aston Villa have all intensified contacts with the Italian club for the 24-year-old.
It’s further claimed the Serie A side have held a ‘triple summit’ with the Premier League trio to sell the player before the window closes next Tuesday.
Juve’s goal is to collect a fee not below €30-35m for the player.
The Serie A side, down their end, are also open to letting the former Schalke man leave on loan with an obligation to buy.
Although Mikel Arteta’s side and the Villans are still in the picture for the American, the report states Leeds are certainly ahead because they have already made an offer, but the Whites’ proposal is €5m short of the Turin club’s demands.
McKennie ‘can really say goodbye’ to the Old Lady, but he needs to be convinced as he is still reluctant to leave Juve for a club that is not in European competition.
At this point, only time will tell if Leeds, Arsenal or Aston Villa will be able to sign him before the end of the transfer window.
