With so many teams currently without a manager or thinking about sacking their current one, the market around Roberto De Zerbi is growing, likely much to Brighton & Hove Albion’s displeasure.
The Seagulls have been doing great under the Italian since he was appointed as Graham Potter’s successor, and that has attracted a lot of attention, including from Inter Milan.
The Serie A side are currently on a rather poor run of form under Simeone Inzaghi, recently losing 1-0 at home to Fiorentina, and Gazzetta dello Sport reckon the time for a change could be around the corner.
They name multiple candidates as potential successors to the Italian, including Brighton’s De Zerbi, for whom a first step has already been taken.
Gazzetta look at the situation surrounding the manager at the Amex, who doesn’t appear keen on a return to his home country, as he is ‘thinking of an English path for himself’.
He is protected by a release clause, which makes him readily available for some sides, and Inter, despite the warning signs, are said to have held a ‘meeting in Miami with the president and owner of Brighton, Tony Bloom, to understand how high the wall in front’ of the manager is.
This allegedly took place during the international break, meaning the Serie A side are clearly serious about trying to lure De Zerbi to Milan if they can.
Whether they manage to do it, however, is a whole different story, with Brighton unlikely to want to see two managers poached in one season.
