With Arsenal being the dream club of several youngsters around the world, here’s one more to that list.
Wiw Sport today features an interview with Real Oviedo U19 starlet Mohamed Lamine Gueye, who’s preparing to feature in the U-20 World Cup with Senegal.
There, he spoke about his background and his arrival to Spain, where he’s making his way to the La Liga side’s first team.
And when talking about his future aspirations, Gueye revealed he’d like to play for Arsenal, and will work towards that goal.
“I aim very high. I want to follow in Sadio Mané’s footsteps by playing in big European clubs, especially in the English League, since Arsenal are the club of my heart,” Gueye told Wiw Sport.
“And of course, I dream of wearing the jersey of Senegal. I dream of playing in the U20 World Cup. I had contact with coach Malick Daf, he assured me that it depended on my performance but he is following me closely.”
Gueye was also quizzed about his qualities, and it turns out he compared himself to the former Liverpool player.
“I see myself a lot in Sadio Mané. I’m quick, good at one-on-one and I’m able to score goals. I’m also technically well-honed. I’m a very versatile striker, ambidextrous, I am able to play as a centre-forward and on the flanks, like here. But I feel best as a left winger.”
With Gueye hopeful of featuring in the U-20 World Cup, that will certainly be a great opportunity to be watched by big European clubs, including Arsenal.
The Gunners are well known for keeping an eye on youngsters from around the world, and will certainly have representatives watching the tournament, which takes place in Argentina next month.
Senegal will be playing in Group C, along with Japan, Israel and Colombia.
