For a long time, it felt like Torino were going to come back for Dennis Praet in the summer, with the Belgian currently stuck at Leicester City.
The midfielder spent last season on loan at the Serie A side, and played well when fit, but his injury record meant the Italians were reluctant to buy him permanently for €15m, thus letting him return to the King Power Stadium.
There were many stories suggesting Torino would return, and they certainly did, but the end result was that Praet stayed at Leicester, who refused to let him go unless their terms were met.
The Turin based club’s transfer chief explained as much after the transfer window, but they haven’t given up on the idea of bringing him back, according to Tuttosport, relayed by Torino Granata.
The newspaper states that Torino ‘haven’t interrupted contacts with Leicester’ when it comes to the Belgium international, who is still struggling to get game time under Brendan Rodgers.
This situation therefore ‘instills confidence’ that a deal could be struck during the January transfer window after the ‘failed attempt in the summer’ despite the ‘repeated requests’ from the Italian club’s manager, Ivan Juric, to sign Praet.
