Italian side Spezia have opened talks with Everton over youngster Halid Djankpata as they look to strengthen before the end of the window.
That’s according to Gianluca di Marzio, who reports that Spezia have held ‘contacts’ with the Toffees over the captain of their youth team.
Djankpata has been with Everton’s youth side since 2021 and worked his way up since then, featuring for the under 18s and then the Under 21s.
He’s racked up 33 and 35 appearances for both so far and been made captain, a clear sign that Everton believe in him.
He’s yet to be given a chance in the first team by manager Sean Dyche, although he insisted at the beginning of last year that he was convinced he could win over the Everton boss at some point.
He may now have to think about his future, though, as Spezia are showing an interest in him before the end of the transfer window.
According to Di Marzio, the Italian side have already opened contact with Everton about a potential move. He doesn’t mention whether they’re eyeing a loan deal or a permanent transfer.
Either way, the Everton youngster is in their sights and may be a name to keep an eye on moving forwards.
