Two days ago, Lucas Torreira’s agent revealed the Arsenal player has an agreement in place to join Valencia.

On Thursday, Super Deporte stated a deal to sign the 26-year-old isn’t close as the La Liga side must first sell before bringing in new faces.

This is echoed by AS, who then explain the situation has not stopped Los Ches from advancing different operations, including that involving the Arsenal midfielder.

Gennaro Gattuso is looking for a player in the middle of the pitch who can fit into his system and has identified the Uruguay international as a priority target.

Torreira has held talks Maximiliano Gómez about the possibility of arriving at Valencia, and has been convinced by his compatriot and Gattuso.

AS relay the agent’s comments and state Valencia have ‘everything on track’ to close the deal, but an agreement with Arsenal doesn’t exist so far. The Spanish club’s idea is to take Torreira on a loan deal with an obligation to buy if certain conditions are met.

Arteta, who has included the Uruguayan in his squad for the pre-season tour, will have to make a decision on his future.
