Boubakary Soumare hasn’t quite hit the heights that many expected him to when he joined Leicester City from Lille in 2021.
He spent a loan stint at Sevilla in the 2023/24 season and with the Premier League season set to start in a couple of days, his future is yet to be resolved. It might lie away from England, as things stand.
Gazzetta dello Sport have reported on AS Roma’s ongoing interest in the Frenchman, with him a target to bolster the Giallorossi’s midfield this summer.
It’s stated that in recent days, Roma have ‘swooped in hard’ for the midfielder, who is interested in a move to the Stadio Olimpico.
Roma will speak to Leicester about Soumare soon, with Daniele De Rossi’s side looking to sign the player on an initial loan deal.
The Foxes know of Roma’s interest in their player and they want €15m to let Soumare depart on a permanent basis. It is perhaps through the player himself that Leicester know of Roma’s interest, with Soumare said to have informed his club of his desire to join the Giallorossi.
Roma’s interest in the 25-year-old seems real and the expectation is that talks could take place soon.
