Earlier today, reports said that KRC Genk were in talks with Southampton for the transfer of Paul Onuachu.
It was claimed that the Belgian side were trying to get the signing done via a loan deal, and that could be finalised in the coming hours.
However, as journalist Sacha Tavolieri brings an update on the situation, he claims the task to take Onuachu from Southampton is difficult.
It’s said Genk are now finding it ‘hard to conclude’ a deal for the striker, as the Saints have risen their demands for the move.
Tavolieri claims it’s now a matter of ‘wait and see’, but with the transfer window closing in a few hours, it seems only Southampton’s goodwill will make that move happen.
Onuachu hasn’t even played for the Saints in the Championship this season, and was on the pitch for 22 minutes in the EFL Cup loss to Gillingham FC.
Still, Southampton are apparently holding him unless a better offer arrives, and the final hours of the window should be quite intense for the Nigerian player.
