Mexican side CF America are ‘getting the idea’ that defender Sebastian Cáceres will be leaving either in January or next summer as clubs such as Tottenham are linked with a move for him.
That’s according to Mexican newspaper Record, who cover the player today as reports in Europe link Caceres with a number of clubs, including Tottenham.
The newspaper explains that America are becoming accustomed to the idea that Cáceres will be on the way out of the club sooner rather than later as interest in him seemingly grows.
The Uruguay’s exit ‘does not seem so far away’ as the levels he has been showing for his club and on the international stage have earned him attention from Europe.
Sevilla have been linked with a move today thanks to new manager Diego Alonso, who knows the player well and has reportedly put him on a list of priorities to bolster his defence.
Then there is interest from England, where reports have indicated that Tottenham are closely following his development and could be ready to move as they look to further strengthen their defence.
America are aware of this interest, with Record stating that there is ‘already knowledge’ of the clubs who are reportedly keen. For now, though, ‘nothing formal’ has been proposed.
Their growing belief is that one of these clubs will make their move sooner rather than later and the Mexican side are ‘already getting the idea’ that one of them will make a formal proposal in December or next summer at the latest and take Cáceres away after three years with them.
Whether Tottenham are one of those remains to be seen given they already spent big on Micky van de Ven in the summer and he’s formed a solid partnership with Cristian Romero so far.
Perhaps they would look at Cáceres as a replacement for Eric Dier, should he leave as expected. That’s just speculation on our part, of course, but it’s a situation to keep an eye on nonetheless with CF America seemingly believing Cáceres is set to depart at some point soon.
