There’s a claim in the Turkish media that Trabzonspor are close to signing Burnley forward Wout Weghorst.
The Dutchman has been linked with a move to the Super Lig club in the past week.
Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu has today claimed Trabzonspor have finally reached an agreement with Burnley to sign Weghorst. It’s reported the two clubs now just have to agree when the Netherlands international will have his medical before his move to Trabzon.
There had been reports in recent days that the Super Lig side were closing in on the centre forward as they look to bring in an alternative to Southampton’s Paul Onuachu.
Trabzonspor were looking to re-sign the Nigerian after his loan spell with them last season but have been put off by the Premier League side’s valuation of the player. The Saints have repeatedly refused to collapse their asking price, prompting a need to look for alternatives.
With just 12 months left on his contract Burnley will be under pressure to offload Weghorst this summer or risk losing him on a free.
He previously had a brief, but successful, loan spell with Besiktas during the 2022/23 season.
