At this point, it’s not a secret that Liverpool are interested in Teun Koopmeiners, and there is certainly a lot to be said about their advantages in the race.
After all, they have more money than the competition, primarily comprised of Juventus, and the player himself has joked that he would be prepared to put up with the rain in England for certain clubs.
He has made it clear that he wants to leave Atalanta at the end of the season, and the Serie A side are already working on his replacement, which further boosts the idea of an exit for the Liverpool target this summer, as explained by TuttoMercatoWeb.
The outlet have an article explaining that Atalanta are targeting Andrea Colpani, formerly theirs but currently at Monza after an €8m sale in 2022, and want to bring him back to take over from the Dutchman.
The 24-year-old has seven goals and four assists in the league this season in 29 appearances, and is expected to be ‘one of the most sought-after players’ in the next transfer window.
That’s why Atalanta want to move early, clearly preparing themselves for a Koopmeiners exit, whether it be to Liverpool or Turin.
At this point, they are going from a €60m asking price, and it’s added his entourage already have a ‘draft agreement’ with Juventus over a €4.5m/season contract.
That’s something Liverpool are likely able to surpass, and only time will tell whether they make the real concrete move to get him signed.
Either way, Atalanta are ready to move on and have his replacement in their sights.
