São Paulo have reportedly formalised their bid to keep Manchester City loanee Nahuel Ferraresi for longer.
According to Goal, the Brazilian club, who have the defender on contract until July 2023, would like to extend that spell for one more year.
Ferraresi recently had a serious knee injury, and with him set to be sidelined for up to nine months, São Paulo will use that as the main argument to hold him at the club.
Even though the loan already includes an option to buy him from Manchester City for €7m, that’s not an investment the Tricolor would try to make right now.
As Lance also reports the situation, they claim São Paulo are actually confident they will get to extend the spell.
That’s because Manchester City already agreed that the player would have surgery and the recovery in Brazil.
So in case they didn’t have any intention to let him stay in the South American country, its would make more sense for them to take him to Europe right away.
Ferraresi and his staff are also said to be interested in his stay.
