Portuguese side Sporting may be forced to sell their biggest star, Bruno Fernandes, at the end of the season, newspaper Correio da Manhã reports today.
Currently facing financial problems, the Lions should take advantage of the midfielder’s form and make some big cash with him.
Fernandes is currently protected by a €100m release clause, and the amount is being used by the Lisbon side as a reference for negotiations.
Correio da Manhã names two clubs who have shown interest for him so far: Liverpool and AC Milan. However, both clubs take those figures as ‘exaggerated’.
That’s why Sporting will have to decrease that price, and are expected to listen to offers of around €80m. Jurgen Klopp’s side may still expect that to come down a little.
Fernandes has 21 goals and 11 assists this season. Not bad for a midfielder, and it will be no surprise when big clubs go for him in the summer.
Now it seems Sporting are ready for that, although Correio da Manhã doesn’t make it clear how far Liverpool and Milan interest has gone for now.
