It seems Southampton defender Lyanco is finally close to his new destination.
Earlier this week, it was first reported he was about to sign with a Brazilian club, and then revealed that Atlético Mineiro and Botafogo both placed offers for him.
Now according to journalist Jorge Nicola, Lyanco finally decided where he’s going, and it’s Atlético.
It’s said talks with Southampton had been taking place for a week, and as he already accepted the destination he’s just waiting for the final agreement.
Atlético are expected to pay the Saints something between €5m and €6m for the permanent transfer, beating Botafogo in the race.
Southampton spent €7.5m to sign Lyanco from Torino back in 2021. He spent a couple of seasons playing for the Saints, with 49 appearances.
Last summer, he was sent to Al-Gharafa SC on a season-long loan deal. Reports from Brazil now claim that the Qatari side had been interested in signing him permanently, but it was the player hismelf who declined the move, as he’s focused on returning to his home country.
