At the weekend, claims in the English press stated Leeds United are looking at Everton’s Tom Cannon.
The Whites could prove to be a tough competitor for Sampdoria in the race to sign the 20-year-old.
That’s according to Genoa’s edition of La Repubblica, who mention Leeds’ interest in the Everton player when explaining the Serie B side’s interest in him.
The website focuses on the business Andrea Pirlo’s side could carry out in the remaining days of the transfer window. Towards the end, they talk about the striker ending up on the Italian club’s radar.
It’s said Sampdoria won’t find it easy to sign the youngster because they will face a ‘lot of competition’ from other clubs. Only Daniel Farke’s side gets a mention.
Everton allowed Cannon to spend the second half of last season on loan at Preston North End. He scored eight goals and registered one assist from 20 league games for the Championship side.
Sampdoria could be set for a battle to sign Cannon, months after Andrea Radrizzani sold his stake at Leeds and invested in the Serie B club.
