With Sunderland looking less and less likely to be able to mount a fight for promotion this season, the Black Cats could be forced into selling some of their stars.
That’s what Lazio in Italy will be hoping for, as Corriere dello Sport on Sunday reported that the Serie A side, who tried to sign Jack Clarke in January, aren’t done with the Stadium of Light residents.
Their attempts to lure the winger away from Sunderland are recalled, and it’s explained that following the desire for a transfer in the last transfer window, a return in the summer could be on the cards.
With his agent, Ian Harte, recently saying that a move could be around the corner, Corriere add the Roman destination, with ‘more time to negotiate’, could ‘become fashionable again’.
However, Clarke will now not be the only player at Sunderland that Lazio want, as they are also end up going after Jobe Bellingham.
He is seen as the ‘forbidden dream’, and the belief is there will ‘also be talk of him’ and a transfer to Lazio in the coming months.
That’s two Sunderland players on the Serie A club’s agenda, and something to keep an eye on.
