If there is one player out of all their current outcasts who Tottenham are unlikely to loan out, it’s probably Eric Dier.
That’s because the England international’s contract at Spurs is due to run out at the end of the season, meaning there is little logic for a temporary deal to be struck with a team in January only for him to then leave on a free soon after.
However, that is exactly the type of deal Il Mattino reckon Napoli are interested in discussing with Tottenham should they decide to move for Eric Dier.
There was an idea of buying one, since they have money to spend, but there is also the possibility of a loan, and ‘one of the candidates’ appears to be the Tottenham player.
One of the reasons is that he ‘can arrive on loan’, although that would be a very surprising deal to try and do because of the aforementioned reasons.
He is ‘completely on the fringes’ at Tottenham, which is true, but the rest seems more like wishful thinking at this moment in time.
Even selling him would be an odd move for Spurs, seeing as they lack squad depth in the role already, and without one or two arrivals in January, which have yet to take place, letting a useful and versatile option like Dier leave might not be the smartest move.
