Brazilian club Corinthians are eagerly anticipating Murillo’s potential departure from Nottingham Forest, as they’re set to earn 15% of any deal.
That’s according to Antenados No Futebol, who say the Brazilian side desperately need the money they could receive from their former player.
They explain that will ‘billions of dollars in debt’, Corinthians are looking around to find where they can bring in money and help to alleviate the problem.
One of their former players, Nottingham Forest’s Murillo, could help on that front and bring in ‘millions’ to the club’s coffers.
He’s shining at Nottingham Forest and constantly being linked to European giants, with Liverpool recently credited with an interest in making him Virgil van Dijk’s long-term replacement. That report, from Spain, also credited Chelsea, PSG, Real Madrid and Barcelona with keeping an eye on the defender.
That same report have Nottingham Forest selling Murillo for €60-70m, a price the interested parties wouldn’t have a problem paying for the 22-year-old.
That would certainly suit Corinthians, who would receive a ‘hefty sum’ from any sale. This is because they kept 10% of his rights when they sold him to Nottingham Forest. They’re also due an extra 5% of any transfer as one of his training clubs.
Thus, they’d be set to receive 15% of the entire value of any sale Nottingham Forest make, which could prove to be a big sum indeed if Murillo moves for the fees being mentioned.
Of course, for now it’s just a dream fuelled by the club’s desperate need for money, but it’ll be something to consider if Murillo does leave Forest in the near future.
