Back on Saturday, we covered an interview Leicester City midfielder Adrien Silva had given to Portuguese newspaper Record, saying he’d be open to a move back to Sporting.

This is a rumour which has been out in the player’s home country media for a while now, and following his quotes, outlet O Jogo came up with some updates on the situation.

They say this is a very difficult signing for Sporting, since they can’t afford the amount asked by Leicester City. It’s claimed the Foxes’s intention is  to recover part of the €24.5m they spent on his signing.

O Jogo says there’s a chance the Lions could sign Adrien for free, in case he rescinds his contract with the Foxes. It’s written that this is a possibility ‘on the table’, and the player will soon meet the Premier League side to discuss these chances. A loan in his final year of contract is also mentioned.

But besides all these issues, there’s also Adrien’s salary. In case the clubs manage to agree a loan, that could only happen if Leicester City continue to pay a big part of his wages.

To win this battle, Sporting count on the midfielder’s wish to go home, since he wants to get back to the national team and play Euro 2020 next year. He’s the one who should push for the Foxes to accept any kind of deal.
