Trabzonspor are expecting Burnley’s Wout Weghorst to make a decision about his future ‘in a short time’, with Leicester City and Ajax also in the mix.
That’s according to journalist Yunus Emre Sel, who reports that a deal could finalised this week if he indicates he wants the move to Trabzonspor.
Reports over the last five days have seen Trabzonspor enter the race for Weghorst, who is expected to moved on from Burnley this summer after returning from a loan spell at Hoffenheim.
They’ve reportedly agreed a deal for him but found the Netherlands striker resistant to the idea, with other options still on the table.
Ajax have long been credited with an interest as they rebuild their squad this summer, while there may also be other options in the Netherlands.
Leicester City can also be added to the mix, according to Emre Sel, who reports they’re also holding talks over a potential deal.
“Trabzonspor expects Wout Weghorst to make a decision in a short time,” he is quoted as saying.
“If this decision is in favour of Trabzonspor, the Weghorst transfer will be resolved within this week. Weghorst is also in talks with Ajax and Leicester City.”
The reality is that Weghorst is probably stuck deciding what to do about his future given the sheer number of options he has on the table.
The lure of the Premier League with Leicester is obvious but then so is the lure of Ajax for a Dutchman, while he also did well in Turkey during a loan spell with Besiktas and might fancy a return there too.
Either way it seems a decision is expected at some point this week, at least as far as Trabzonspor are concerned, and the long-running saga that is Weghorst’s future may be heading for the finish line.
