Fotospor claim Besiktas are still hopeful of selling Domagoj Vida to the Premier League before the transfer window closes, with Arsenal still in the mix to sign the Croatia international.

It’s reported Besiktas manager Senol Gunes is already preparing for life without Vida and that the Turkish club are expecting Arsenal to make a late bid for the player. With Laurent Koscielny ruled out long term, the 29 year old could be brought in to fill the void left by the Frenchman, especially with Calum Chambers going out on loan.

Vida has been linked with a move to Arsenal in the past week but recent reports suggested he could be heading to fellow Premier League side Wolves.

According to Fotospor, Gunes has made plans without Vida in his squad and the Istanbul club have already signed Enzo Roco, with Chilean Gary Medel also a target.

Vida impressed in this summer’s World Cup in Russia, which brought him to the attention of English top flight clubs.

Whilst it’s stated the offer is expected, the reality is probably that it’s hoped for. The Turkish media have been talking up a Vida exit all summer. And now, a day before the window closes for Premier League clubs, the situation doesn’t feel a lot different to what it did weeks ago.
