In search of a centre-back after the signing of Natan failed to work out, Napoli are considering a couple of options, both in the Premier League, at Aston Villa and Tottenham more specifically.
The first is Clément Lenglet, according to Il Mattino, relayed by Calcio Napoli 24, who is currently on loan at Villa Park from Barcelona.
The Frenchman endured a difficult start to the campaign, failing to make an appearance for Aston Villa in the Premier League until the Christmas period, which led to speculation that he could leave.
However, his recent inclusion in Unai Emery’s plans means the desire to leave may not be there anymore, which is why Napoli could be looking elsewhere.
That’s where Eric Dier comes in, as the England international has found life hard at Tottenham since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou.
The added bonus for Napoli is that his contract with Spurs ends at the end of the campaign, meaning he would be very cheap in January.
Not only that, but Tottenham’s interest in Radu Dragușin means that a purchase of the Romanian could lead to the London club being more open to let Dier leave.
One to keep an eye on, as Napoli step up their search for more defensive reinforcements following a rather atrocious start to the campaign after last year’s league title.
