French side Stade Rennais are eyeing a move for Nottingham Forest defender Serge Aurier this summer, although he is happy where he is for now.

That’s according to Foot Mercato, who today cover the Ligue 1 side’s efforts to bolster their squad for next season.

They say that Stade Rennais are planning to ‘shake up’ their workforce for next year and one area they need to strengthen is at right-back, where current player Djed Spence will depart when his loan spell from Tottenham comes to an end.

The club are already ‘active behind the scenes’ on that front, identifying potential options to explore, but the reality is that they ‘dream of Serge Aurier’.

He’s currently at Nottingham Forest after joining them on a free transfer in the summer transfer window and has made 23 appearances this season as Steve Cooper’s side have avoided relegation.

That ‘solid season’ has Aurier more than happy with what he’s got, and FM say he ‘feels good’ at Nottingham Forest, particularly as they’re remaining in the Premier League for another year.

That, therefore, should make any move a difficult one for Stade Rennais to pull off, and it seems they would be better served focusing their efforts on someone else.
