With his contract expiring at the end of the season, Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris is now free to talk to any foreign club regarding a transfer when his deal comes to an end.
There has already been talk that Nice, his former club, would be interested in bringing him back to the south of France, but now Rennes are also in the mix.
This comes from France Bleu Armorique, who report that the Ligue 1 side ‘dream of attracting’ the goalkeeper in the summer, with François Pinault, the club’s owner, ‘particularly appreciating’ his profile.
While Antonio Conte wants to keep the France international around, this could be the ideal time for him return to his home country, even if Rennes aren’t in the best position to get him.
That being said, Pinault, according to the radio station, ‘has been pushing internally since last summer to bring’ Lloris to his club.
However, his current wages of €500k/month are ‘largely superior’ to the wage limit in Rennes, and it could all depend on his will to change scenery.
Having already tried to do the deal last year, there might be a chance this time around, especially since Pinault, the new status of his club and the presence of both Bruno Génésio and Florian Maurice, who both know Lloris from their time at Lyon, all work in their favour.
This makes the deal somewhat ‘doable’, and bringing the goalkeeper to the club would be a real coup.
