Eintracht Frankfurt do not want to pay €20m to sign Armel Bella-Kotchap from Southampton this summer, with that figure too high for their liking at present.
That’s according to BILD, who cover the player’s future today after he was pictured meeting Germany manager Ansi Flick in Munich.
The newspaper covers an ‘interesting secret meeting in Munich’ between the Germany manager and Bella-Kotchap, who is currently undergoing medical treatment in the city after being ruled out for the rest of Southampton’s season with a thigh injury.
According to their information, the meeting with Flick was planned to discuss the player’s future, with it increasingly likely he will leave Southampton this summer.
Bella-Kotchap joined the Saints last summer and has impressed despite their troubles this season, even breaking into the Germany squad under Flick.
He respects the Germany manager’s thinking and used the opportunity to meet up with him for a ‘good hour-long exchange’ about his current situation and future.
Last week reports emerged that Eintracht Frankfurt are keen on him and BILD confirm as much, but state that Southampton’s current €20m valuation of their player is ‘still too high’ for the DFB Cup finalists.
They clearly want a reduction before making any type of move, but it seems the Saints are yet to offer it, even with Bella-Kotchap holding meetings about his future and seemingly planning ahead already.
Perhaps his next step is dependent on what Flick has told him, hence the meeting in Munich to talk things over first.
