Barcelona are growing increasingly enthusiastic about Aston Villa possibly signing Clement Lenglet on a permanent basis and ‘don’t hide their satisfaction’ at the idea.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who say the club are delighted to see the defender in Unai Emery’s plans and revaluing himself.
The central defender is on loan at Aston Villa from Barcelona but barely featured in the first half of the season, leading to a belief he could be on the move in January.
This revaluation ‘excites’ Barcelona, who ‘don’t hide their satisfaction’ at the fact the player is now featuring regularly.
Their hope is that Aston Villa are growing increasingly likely to buy him on a permanent basis or even negotiate a new loan deal in the summer, either of which would suit Barcelona as they want rid of his wages.
The current loan does not include a purchase option for Aston Villa, something they may now be regretting as Lenglet establishes himself in the team and becomes a part of Emery’s plans.
That said, with Barcelona wanting rid, any initial offer would surely be very low.
