On Friday, Gazzetta dello Sport stated Genoa deem Celtic’s demands for Gustaf Lagerbielke excessive and are working out a formula to convince Brendan Rodgers’ side..
The Serie A side have already signed Giorgio Cittadini on loan from Monza, but despite this, it’s claimed they aren’t ending their efforts to sign the Celtic defender.
That’s according to Saturday’s Corriere dello Sport, who state Genoa ‘don’t give up’ on the 23-year-old just yet.
Pantaleo Corvino, the Italian club’s sports director, really likes the centre-back and has already made a concrete attempt to take him away from Celtic in recent weeks.
Genoa offered to sign the Sweden international on a dry loan deal and wanted Brendan Rodgers’ side to cover part of his salary. However, this offer was turned down by Celtic.
The newspaper indicates the Serie A side will make a new attempt to secure the Celtic man’s services and it’s claimed they ‘hope’ Brendan Rodgers’ side will change their stance in the final days of the window.
In other words, Genoa are hoping for Celtic to sanction a loan move and cover part of Lagerbielke’s salary.
Maybe Genoa are being too ambitious here.
