Valencia have been left ‘disconcerted’ by Giorgi Mamardashvili’s willingness to join Bournemouth on loan, having been told by him that such a deal wasn’t in his interests.
That’s according to Marca, who report that Valencia have been left slightly unhappy with the Georgian as he’s seemingly backtracked to end up at Liverpool.
The newspaper reports that the Valencia goalkeeper has agreed to play on loan at Bournemouth for two seasons if he agrees to join Liverpool this summer.
The Reds are now hoping to convince Valencia with an offer of around €35m plus bonuses but the belief is that a deal can be closed in the coming days.
The goalkeeper has everything agreed with Liverpool, including a contract worth €4m a year, but would not play for them until 2026, instead spending the next two seasons on loan at Bournemouth.
He’s ruled out the idea of staying on loan at Valencia, who have been left ‘somewhat disconcerted’ by how things have played out.
That’s because Mamardashvili has consistently stated behind closed doors that if he were to leave, he would do so for a big club. If not, he would be staying where he is.
Instead, he’s accepted spending two years at Bournemouth, a team who finished 12th last season and 15 points outside of the European places.
Valencia are less than impressed by that, which is perhaps why they keep pushing Liverpool as far as they can when it comes to the transfer fee they want for the Georgian.
Mundo do add that such a deal wouldn’t actually be possible as Premier League rules prevent it, so Liverpool are actually studying the possibility of Bournemouth buying Mamardashvili first.
The two would then agree a deal for next summer, with Bournemouth pocketing a sum for their part as well. The four parties, Valencia, Liverpool, Bournemouth and the player’s agents, are all negotiating this and trying to work out a solution.
