Salernitana director of football Morgan de Sanctis has insisted they are yet to receive an offer from Everton or anyone else for striker Boulaye Dia.
De Sanctis was speaking in a press conference, relayed by Sport del Sud regarding the transfer situation at the club and whether they could lose their star striker in the coming weeks.
Dia has been heavily linked with a move away from Salernitana this summer after an impressive season in Italy last year during a loan move from Villarreal.
He managed 16 goals and six assists in 33 games in Serie A for the club, ending the campaign as the third top goal scorer behind Victor Osimhen and Lautaro Martinez.
He’s subsequently been linked with a move away this year, despite Salernitana making his loan move into a permanent one, with Everton at the front of the queue for his signature.
They’re desperate to add a striker to Sean Dyche’s squad and Dia is believed to be high on their list, with numerous reports expressing their interest.
Indeed, recent claims from Italy have made it clear that Everton have had made several bids, involving Neal Maupay going the other way, rejected by Salernitana. De Sanctis, though, appears to be unaware of such offers.
“Dia? He is a very strong player, he is recovering carefully from the meniscus cleaning operation,” he said.
“We imagine that he can stay since no official offers have arrived. We want to avoid risks so he will only return when he is in the best condition.
“Salernitana will make investments, trying not to give up our precious pieces. We will have a strong and complete team to reach safety as soon as possible.”
