Real Sociedad are continuing their work to sign Sergio Reguilón from Tottenham, with the Spaniard the ‘chosen’ target for sporting director Roberto Olabe.
That’s according to Grada 3, who say Real Sociedad have turned their focus to the Tottenham man after Arsenal refused to let Kieran Tierney depart.
They explain that La Real continue to work on reinforcing their squad this summer, particularly at left-back, which is something of a problem area for them.
They had been keen on Tierney, but Arsenal made it clear they wouldn’t sanction a loan deal and were only interested in a permanent exit. They then stopped a move from happening at all after the injury to Jurrien Timber.
That’s forced Sociedad to look elsewhere and Olabe has now ‘chosen’ Reguilón as the man he wants to fill the left-back spot.
The 26-year-old ‘does not count’ for Tottenham after returning from a loan spell at Atlético de Madrid, where several injuries stopped him from playing any sort of role under Diego Simeone.
They didn’t execute an option to buy the layer, but Tottenham don’t have a place for him either and would be more than willing to let him go, which is presumably good news for La Real’s hopes of getting a favourable deal.
