Real Valladolid sports director Fran Sánchez has admitted he and the club are upset with winger Gonzalo Plata as he continues to be linked to AFC Bournemouth.
That’s according to Pucela Fichajes, who cover comments from the sports director today as his player continues to be linked with a move away this summer.
Plata is one of several players expected to leave the Spanish club in this transfer window, with it seen as unlikely that he’ll remain with the club following relegation from La Liga.
Plata himself has spoken publicly on more than one occasion about his desire to move on if he can get it, even opening the door to a move abroad if Bournemouth come forward him.
The Cherries have long been credited with an interest in the player, with a report earlier this month indicating that they would be willing to spend as much as €10m on a possible deal.
That was the latest in a long line of reports linking Plata to Bournemouth, something the player has fuelled with his comments on the matter.
That’s something Sánchez is less than impressed with, clarifying the situation around his players in comments in a press conference.
“I did not like the statements because Real Valladolid was the club that gave him the opportunity to be in Spain,” he said.
“He has a lot of talent, although he is 22 years old and has always been required of him.
“Many First Division teams and some from outside have called us, but there is no firm offer. He does not have any exit clause, beyond the termination clause.”
