It seems like, if Friday’s edition of Sport is anything to go by, the continuous linking of Hector Bellerin to Barcelona could be coming to an end for Arsenal fans.
Over the past few months, the Spanish right-back, who was plucked from La Masia at a young age by Arsène Wenger’s side, has been touted as possibly returning to his former club as the La Liga champions continue to look for a replacement for Aleix Vidal.
The Spaniard, who was signed from Sevilla during their transfer ban, really hasn’t made the impact wanted, and Sport look at who Barcelona could target to replace him.
Names like Southampton’s Cédric Soares or Valencia’s Joao Cancelo are mentioned, but the first to appear in bold in their long list is the Arsenal right-back.
However, they don’t dwell on him too long because they report Barcelona ‘have practically discarded him’ from their list.
The reason behind this? ‘The club has direct information Arsenal will renew his contract in one to two weeks’.
Get your calendars out, Arsenal fans.
If Sport are right, Bellerin will have signed a new contract by the 18th of November. Get excited (or don’t).
