Barcelona are ‘determined to make’ Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva their ‘big signing’ next summer, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Catalan club tried taking the midfielder in the previous two summers but were left disappointed. In the recently concluded window, they tried until the last week of the market, before focusing on other targets.

Xavi Hernández still continues to be a fan of the Manchester City star, and he’ll be the coach’s main request for next season.

The Premier League winners know firsthand of the Blaugrana’s interest in the 28-year-old and have not closed the door on his exit, even though the Portugal international has a contract until 2025.

Although Silva is happy at Manchester City, his dream from childhood has been to join the La Liga giants. A potential move will be dependent on certain conditions, set by the player, his agent and the English champions.

For the second year in a row, Barcelona asked the ex-Monaco man to have patience, but didn’t end up making an offer, neither to him nor to Pep Guardiola’s side. This did not please him and his agent, Jorge Mendes.

Therefore, the Spanish giants will have to ‘go all out’ from the start of the 2023 summer window, to take the player away from the Etihad.

Manchester City chiefs Ferran Soriano and Txiki Begiristain will not let Silva leave for less than €80m.

They have a clear argument in this case because he is a starter, and the club will have to invest big to sign the Portuguese star’s replacement.
