Earlier this week, Italian newspaper Corriere Dello Sport revealed Watford”s interest in Sassuolo striker Gregoire Defrel, claiming the Hornets could make an attempt to get him signed.
That story mentioned a potential ‘long-distance swap’ by the Pozzo Family, as they could involve Udinese’s Adam Masina in the deal.
Regardless of how Watford will try to get this deal, their chase for Defrel is today again discussed by Corriere Dello Sport.
This time with a much shorter story, the newspaper mentions that the Hornets are along with Cagliari and Salernitana in the race for the striker.
Defrel’s contract with Sassuolo expires at the end of the season, and that’s why the club are desperate to get him sold in January, making some cash instead of losing him for free.
It’s then up to Watford and the other interested clubs to try to place an interesting offer on the table.
Playing for Sassuolo this season, Defrel hasn’t scored any goals yet, and has one assist in 11 appearances so far. He missed their past five games due to an injury.
