Real Betis are seemingly delighted that Crystal Palace are moving to sign defender Chadi Riad, with the money they’ll receive more than welcome.
That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who say that John Textor has once again come ‘to the rescue of Betis’ after previous deals for Luiz Henrique and Abner Vinícius.
The newspaper explains that Crystal Palace, and Textor, will be giving Betis an ‘interesting capital gain’ to the Spanish club when they need it most.
He’s already done that twice this year with his other clubs, signing Luiz Henrique and Abner Vinícius for Botafogo and Lyon respectively.
Now he intends to sign Riad for Crystal Palace, with the deal seen as ‘timely’ by Betis as it promises great benefits and will give them a much-needed boost in finances as they look to restructure their club.
On the transfer front, Estadio insist that for now, the only real step is that Betis have informed Barcelona that they intend to buy Riad after his successful loan spell this season.
Once they’ve done that they will sell to Crystal Palace, and negotiations on that front are currently on convincing the Eagles to pay more than the €12m plus €2m in bonuses they’re currently offering.
They want as much as they can get from the Premier League side as their agreement with Barcelona sees the Catalans receive 50% of the profit of a future sale.
So, if the deal were to be done at €12m plus £2m in bonuses, €4.6m would be winging it’s way to the Camp Nou with the possibility of €2m more, in two €1m payments, if various bonuses are met.
Thus, Betis want to try and get the best deal they can to mitigate for this, although any money from Crystal Palace and Textor is being seen as a major boost, and the third of its kind, either way.
