Earlier this month, it was claimed that Anderlecht, furious at the way Nottingham Forest acted for the potential transfer of Harry Toffolo, had put a case forward to FIFA.
It was initially thought Steve Cooper’s side were behind the late cancellation of the deal, but it was later revealed that agents played a part in it.
That meant Nottingham Forest might have to deal with some unwanted off the field drama, but a new report from Belgium now states that won’t be the case.
Le Soir explain that despite Anderlecht’s move to take the case to FIFA, where they were either asking to still get the player or receive some compensation for the failed move, that will not longer be happening.
That’s because FIFA ‘informed RSCA that they are not in power to comment on this matter’, meaning that if they had any gripe with Nottingham Forest, they would have to take it up with CAS.
That would require ‘many additional weeks’ of debate, and it would also force Toffolo to turn against the Premier League side, which he ‘would not necessarily have done given that he is still under contract’ there.
With all this information, Anderlecht have ‘decided to end the prosecution’, and are moving on from the Nottingham Forest player, having targeted other left-backs since.
