Roberto de Zerbi has hugely impressed since moving to Brighton and has subsequently been linked with other positions around Europe.
In Italy there’s a link nearly every day, and it’s assumed that De Zerbi will eventually head back to his own country and take charge of one the biggest clubs in Serie A.
Of course, the chance was there to appoint him before Brighton signed the manager, but nobody seemed ready to take the plunge and that’s a decision which will almost certainly bring regret.
Nice haven’t really recovered since PSG snatched Christophe Galtier from them, and 36-year-old Digard hasn’t been able to produce the goods.
The French club being able to appoint De Zerbi feels unlikely. When he does leave Brighton it’s surely going to be for a bigger club than the Ligue 1 side.
Another option for Nice is Graham Potter, with his time at Brighton still helping his reputation. His awful Chelsea period isn’t a huge black mark, with the Blues seen as something of a chaos club at the moment.
