Ruben Vinagre’s loan spell at Everton could be cut short soon, according to reports from Portugal.
Newspaper A Bola writes that with the player having little playing time for the Toffees this season, there’s the ‘possibility’ he could look for a new club in January.
Since joining Everton in the summer, Vinagre only made four appearances. He was used by Frank Lampard as a late sub twice in the Premier League, and had two starts in the EFL Cup.
A Bola points out that the agreement between Sporting and the Toffees included a €20m buying option for the Goodison Park side, but as things go, that will ‘hardly’ be triggered by the English club.
It was exactly in the last summer that the Lions bought the player.
They first had him on a loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers, and the agreement included an obligatory purchase, which was triggered in July for €10m.
That’s why it shall be no surprise to see Sporting trying to move Vinagre around and see if they can get a better deal elsewhere.
For now, though, it’s unclear whether Everton will accept breaking his loan, as it would mean finding another left-back in January.
