Tottenham defender Pedro Porro is the alternative currently being looked at by Real Madrid if they cannot get Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool.
That’s according to AS, who say Real Madrid have the Tottenham defender ‘on their agenda’ and he is a ‘serious alternative’ to the Liverpool star.
The newspaper reports that Porro has been on Real Madrid’s agenda for some time, even before Tottenham secured his signature from Sporting Club de Portugal.
That interest has never died down and has now been ‘intensified’ by Real Madrid’s current need to sign a right-back. Alexander-Arnold is the favourite, but the Tottenham man is an option if he proves to be unobtainable.
Any operation to get him from Tottenham would not be a simple one. They spent €45m to get him from Sporting and his value has ‘grown exponentially’ since that point.
€45m would be the base fee alone but Tottenham would surely demand more and given the defender has a contract until 2028, it would be necessary to open negotiations for him.
At the moment any interest is ‘informal’ but if negotiations or efforts for Alexader-Arnold don’t prove to be fruitful then Madrid’s efforts will ‘truly gain weight’.
