Alongside Tanguy Ndombélé and Bryan Gil, there is another player at Tottenham that is having to wait for his future to be sorted, and that’s Giovani Lo Celso.
The midfielder was watched by Ange Postecoglou over the pre-season, but that doesn’t mean his place is cemented in the new manager’s squad, with a few clubs hoping to get the Argentine this summer.
Napoli are one of those, with Corriere dello Sport and Il Mattino bringing bits of information on the club’s pursuit of the Tottenham player.
The former of the two explains that the Serie A side ‘continue to ask’ Spurs about the availability of Lo Celso, but wanting to sign him on a loan with an option to buy, much like they did with Ndombélé last season.
Considering how that went and the fact the Frenchman is back at Tottenham causing them a new headache, you can understand Daniel Levy’s potential reluctance to agree to these terms, but patience could be key for the Naples side.
That’s because Il Mattino explain that Lo Celso is ‘still in the running’ as one of the options to bolster the midfield in the south of Italy, but only as a loan.
They then add that if it is done, it will be ‘at the end of the market’, when Tottenham have no other options but to agree to their terms for fear of having an unhappy player at the club who won’t get to play that much.
