When it comes to football, there’s always been something special about a youngster coming through the youth ranks at a club to then break into the first-team and stay there.

While it used to be quite regular, it’s becoming more and more a thing of the past as the sport becomes a business first and foremost, with club loyalty meaning less and less.

However, some club presidents still enjoy the nostalgia, like Celta Vigo’s Carlos Mouriño, who likes the idea of bringing Wolverhampton’s Jonny and Newcastle’s Joselu back to the club one day.

In fact, Atlantico in Spain explain those in charge of transfers at the La Liga side have been in touch with a large group of former players to learn about their situation and see if there’s an opening for a return.

The return of Denis Suarez stemmed from this, while Celta’s attempts to bring back Santi Mina from Valencia if they lose Maxi Gomez is another example of it.

Atlantico also point out that, for the first time, Jonny’s representatives were contacted this year.

This whole thing has been called operation ‘Revival’, and it seems Mouriño would like to build a team filled with players who know the club and what it means to wear that shirt.

As well as Wolverhampton’s Jonny and the two Spaniards mentioned above, Lyon’s Pape Cheikh and Newcastle’s Joselu are on the list.

This summer could be the ideal opportunity to sign the Magpies’ forward, who has already discussed potentially leaving St James’ Park, close to joining Alaves at one point.

Jonny, on the other hand, only fully signed for Wolves back in January and it seems unlikely he would have any interest (at least not yet) in returning to Celta in the coming months.
