Following the recent links between Corinthians and Aston Villa star Philippe Coutinho, the midfielder’s former club Vasco da Gama have now reportedly joined the race to sign him.
That’s said by Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola, who claims that given the 30-year-old’s current situation, the Rio de Janeiro side felt the need to try his arrival as well.
Vasco reportedly got in touch with the player’s agent Giuliano Bertolucci. There, they heard that signing the Aston Villa star would be ‘very difficult, not to say impossible’.
The reasons for that are the high wages the player has at the Premier League side and the investment the Villans made to sign him from Barcelona.
Nicola still claims there’s ‘zero’ chance Coutinho will be joining Corinthians or any other club in the coming days.
That’s because Aston Villa shall wait for the January transfer window to see if they receive a good offer from Europe for the player.
Only in case nothing shows up, then there’s the chance they’ll negotiate him with a Brazilian club, who only have the conditions of landing him on a loan.
