Following the news that Mohamed Simakan would be injured for at least the next month, Milan quickly turned their eyes towards alternatives for the centre-back position.

One of those happened to be at Chelsea, where Fikayo Tomori has struggled to get regular game time under Frank Lampard, who prefers the likes of Thiago Silva or Kurt Zouma ahead of the English international.

Corriere dello Sport add their bit on Wednesday to the already ongoing story, explaining there have been contact ‘in the past few hours’ with the Blues defender’s entourage.

Chelsea, down their end, are ‘open’ to the idea of the 23-year-old going out on loan, knowing there will be a long queue of suitors willing to welcome the centre-back.

However, it’s said Milan would be ‘the preferred option for the kid’, who is ‘intent on experiencing a six-month loan in Italy’.

That’s important in itself, as an offer could certainly be on its way if the Serie A side deem Simakan’s injury notable enough to hold off on making an official move.
