According to a claim in the Greek media, Panathinaikos have contacted Newcastle United over the availability of Rolando Aarons.
It’s reported by Snda.Gr the Greek club are interested in signing the winger, and it’s thought the player is unlikely to be in Rafael Benitez’s plans for next season, should the manager stay.
It’s been well documented in Greece they want to add pace in the wide areas and they’ve also been linked with Aaron’s Newcastle teammate Callum Roberts.
The financially troubled Greek side are looking to pay a percentage of Aarons’ wages if they get an agreement, and Newcastle are reportedly open to loaning him.
Newcastle officials believe a fresh start could be a good option for the player, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday.
Aarons played the first half of the last season with Czech Republic side Slovan Liberec and made 12 appearances for the club.
Sdna reports Newcastle are prepared to cover most of Aaron’s wages if he were to head to Greece.
Aarons still has two years on his current Newcastle contract.
