River Plate have inquired with Julio Soler’s agents as they look to potentially sign him from Bournemouth.
That’s according to TyC Sports. They report that the Bournemouth defender is an alternative option for the Argentine giants to Zenit’s Román Vega.
Manager Marcelo Gallardo has asked for signings and the club’s management are now actively involved in the transfer market. They have already initiated several negotiations simultaneously.
Julio Soler is the latest name added to the list. He’s currently a substitute at Bournemouth, barely playing, and that led River Plate to speak to his representatives. They wanted to gauge his interest in returning to Argentine football.
They want a backup for Marcos Acuña, who is the undisputed starting left-back. Negotiations are underway for Vega at Zenit, and they have inquired with Bournemouth about Soler. They would be willing to do a loan deal with an option or an obligation to buy.
Several details would need to be worked out before reaching that stage, though. There’s been no indication that Bournemouth or the player are keen on the move at this point. A report yesterday indicated that they aren’t, so it appears River Plate have some work to do.
