Sevilla are considering reporting Aston Villa over their approach for defender Marcos Acuña as the Villans push to sign the Argentine.
That’s according to Mucho Deporte, who say the Spanish club are growingly increasingly annoyed with the club and director of football Monchi.
The relationship with the latter has quickly festered but is growing increasingly worse as Sevilla now take it for granted that Aston Villa have illegally approached Acuña to convince him to move to Villa Park.
This is something that they say they can prove, and they are now considering reporting Aston Villa to the relevant authorities because of it.
Clubs approaching players before their clubs is ‘prohibited’ but is common practice in the game regardless, with most first convincing players before starting negotiations with their club.
Sevilla, though, believe that Aston Villa and Monchi have overstepped the mark, particularly as they ‘disturbed’ the player on the eve of their clash with Manchester City in the UEFA Super Cup.
That, coupled with Villa’s low first offer for the player has not gone down well with Sevilla, who have ‘taken it very badly’.
This was seen in manager José Luis Mendilibar, when he made very pointed comments without mentioning Aston Villa or Monchi specifically.
Those comments were the latest sign in a growing anger at the Spanish club, who don’t think Aston Villa are playing by the rules and could now report them because of it.
Now, this is a very different stance to what’s been reported in Argentina, where there is a growing confidence a deal will be done, and reports have not presented any problems.
The likelihood, though, is that this is being fed by the player’s agents, who it seems have been working with Villa in a manner that Sevilla aren’t particularly happy with.
