As part of the City Group, it’s normal to see the Ligue 1 side associated with Manchester City, especially with Ante Palaversa and Marlos Moreno on loan there.

Currently 13th in the French top-tier, there was no real reason to fire their manager, but it’s something the board did, as they got rid, perhaps surprisingly, of Bruno Irlès.

Now, their task is to find a new manager, and that’s where another link with Manchester City comes in, according to Media Foot in France.

The outlet report that David Bettoni was offered to the club as a potential replacement, who used to be Zinédine Zidane’s assistant.

He isn’t the only one they are looking at, however, as the outlet claim the current Academy Manager at Manchester City, Jason Wilcox, is among the studied profiles.

The 51-year-old has been in his current role since 2017, when he was promoted from his post as Head of Academy Coaching.

Before that, however, he was the Manchester City U18 manager for three years, which is the experience he has in charge of a team.

Whether he has what it takes to help Troyes improve going forward remains to be seen, but he’s among the names they are looking at.
